When The Corner Garden was created it was designed as a native species and low impact development demonstration garden. A landscaping job to showcase different opportunities regarding implementing low impact developments. A significant part of these low impact developments are the native plants.

There are countless benefits to adding native plants to your home or office garden project. One of the benefits is native plants support local wildlife populations.

There are some native animals that rely fully on native plants. Did you know Monarch Butterfly larva only eat milkweed? Lucky for us we have three different types of native milkweed planted here! Swamp Milkweed, Butterfly Milkweed and Joe Pye Weed are all Monarch friendly plants.

The Corner Garden has over 30 species of plants that are native to the Muskoka and Ontario regions. The plants vary from flowers to ferns as well as trees and bushes.
