Birds, Butterflies and Blooms!

Can you believe it’s been almost a month since The Corner Garden was completed?

Lots of plants are blooming in their new home! This week the Butterfly Milkweed, Swamp Milkweed and the Joe Pye Weed have all taken off and are starting to show us their flowers! Milkweed is a fantastic plant for the Monarch butterflies to eat and a place for them to lay their eggs. It is very important to have habitats like this for the Monarchs because these butterflies are classified as special concern under the Endangered Species Act of Ontario. We have seen Monarchs on the milkweed already!

We’ve also spotted some backyard birds in the garden; robins, who have sure enjoyed the service berries! Along with robins we’ve also seen mourning doves among the plants.
